A package came for me today, full of Hello Kitty goodies that I have ordered online. Before I start describing the ten super cute items that I have purchased, I have to start by describing the padded envelope first! EMS – The Fastest and Most Reliable International Postal Service in Japan (according to what’s written on my package), has a program call “POP ECO”, which led to what I think is one of the clearest environmental labeling that I have ever seen. Here are the instructions for the right way to dispose the used padded envelope,

1. RECEIVE YOUR EMS ITEM

2. PICK UP YOUR GOODS

3. EASY TO SEPARATE (bubble wrap from envelope)

4. DISPOSE OF SEPARATELY (Paper and 04 Plastic)

How advanced (or not) is that?? All packaging should always come with such clear instructions, though I am not sure if people need to be reminded to remove their stuff from the envelope. However, not all cities might be advanced enough to have 04 LD-PE plastic recycling facilities!

Le Chateau de Chantilly

Le Chateau de Chantilly has always been a castle that I wanted to visit but never had a chance to, despite the fact that I have lived in Europe for a few years, visited France almost every year and even lived in France for a summer once! Nevertheless, my blog has nothing to do with the actual Chateau (note the double “l”!) but it serves as a source of fascination for me to continue exploring life in that period, as well as comparing what has changed almost three centuries later, materially and environmentally. Although I love, love, love everything about Le Chateau and the lifestyle it represented and influenced, I have to wonder how long will uncontrolled consumerism survive and how sustainable is an opulent lifestyle in the world we have inherited today?
